Default Using Plastic in 1st fermentation

Can anyone share their thoughts regarding using a 5 gal plastic jug in
the 1st stage of fermentation?

I use a 7 gal plastic bucket/lid/airlock on about 95% of my beers and
meads for primary fermentation and have no problem. I actually haven't
noticed any real difference between it and when I use glass for primary.

5 Gal. is too small. plastic is OK for primary.
