Where can I go to learn about building a box as a homemade Tivo device?
Thanks

I have a Hauppage PVR350 which comes with VCR software, and also works
with www.titantv.com to program programs you'd like to watch. This is all
windows
based.
Since it does a very good job of video capture, I'm also using it for
recording my
home videos off tape to DVD's.

I found this which leads to other things.... http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,59088,00.html Does anybody know of Windows based software? I understood Microsoft had almost made this possible in XP Home. Anybody tried? MH "MSH" <mnd@jaacom> wrote in message news:3f44f2bf_2@news1.prserv.net... Being Unix (at its heart), it can do many other things at the same time and you reboot it every year or so if you want to. No weekly viruses or worms to deal with. This is not an unexplored area. OTOH, my friend who's done this has offered that he's spent hundreds of hours tweaking and poking and playing. The Tivo would have cost him less were it not for the hobby/fun factor.
After spending most of a day reading, Linux, while attractive, still isn't
easy for prime time unless like you say, you have hundreds of hours
tweaking. Not having to reboot every time the machine goes into standby
would sure be nice though.
For Windows, this piece of software has plenty of good reviews. Don't know
about the windows-freeze issue though. http://www.snapstream.com/

THere is a windows package that will do exactly what you are asking, but
I can;t fond the link or it. I know it is not much help without the
link, but I searched all my bookmarks for it and it was not there.
Maybe a search unsing google will yield some results
