View Full Version : CCTV over web question

I have a couple of bullet cams modulated into my TV cable in my house. I
also have DSL (BellSouth), a router, hub, external DSL modem, and three PC's
on a small peer-to-peer network. I also own my own domain, which is hosted
at a local ISP (not BellSouth). I use FTP to update my web pages when
needed.
The question: I'd like to be able to see my bullet cam signal over the
internet from a page on my website. How would I get the video from my
cameras out to the internet? I have a PC I could dedicate as a "server" with
a TV card. But my webpage is hosted elsewhere, and my DSL is a dynamic IP. I
cannot run my web page from home, and a static IP is cost prohibitive. Would
some webcam software take care of this? Would the signal from the cams be
constantly going out over my DSL, using up bandwidth, or only when I went to
the web page to look at it? Any suggestions where to start would be
appreciated...
