I am concerned about their installation in several rooms in my private home: 1. do I need to get a professional to mount them on the wall, so as to set correct the camera angle for each room?
No. It's easy to aim the cameras. Just set up the receiver and monitor in
the room as you work and aim the camera as you please.
2. or do the pinhole cameras come automatically angled correctly for mounting on a flat wall?
Pinhole cameras *usually* come with a wide angle lens. You can install them
on a wall or ceiling. Just hold the camera in a few locations to select the
site that gives the best image for your needs.
3. do I need to consider different lenses if there is plenty of daylight? do the lenses come already built into these type of cameras?
Some cameras come with and some without a lens. You can download a free
lens calculator program from a link in the CCTV area of my FAQ website. Run
the app and enter the distance and height / width of the area you want to
view. It's pretty simple to use.
4. do instructions come with the cameras, if they are easy to mount up on the walls, and could a 'lay' person like myself do it all without any training?
All the cameras I've installed came with instructions. There's not much to
it if you're only trying to monitor known persons in a residence where
lighting levels are known in advance. Speaking of lighting, if you want to
be able to view in the dark consider using a camera with an array of
infrared LEDs. These will give you a minimal picture at 12-15 feet. Higher
quality units such as Silent Witness are capable of recording decent video
from almost any inside space during total darkness.

Robert

How about a direct link so we don't have to waste our time hunting around
your web site. When I click on FAQ all I get is a Terms of Use. And a blank
section to the left.
Thanks, Don <donwiss at panix.com>.
